Admission Notice: BARC HBNI PhD 2025
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, invites applications from highly motivated and qualified science postgraduates for Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) in various disciplines of Physical, Chemical, and Life Sciences. Selected candidates will be registered for the Ph.D. programme at Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a Deemed University under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. A total of 105 fellowships are available (indicative).

- Accelerator Physics, Plasma Physics, Quantum Materials, Laser Physics, Optics, Synchrotron & Neutron Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Computational & Theoretical Physics, etc.
Chemical Sciences:
- Nuclear & Radiochemistry, Materials Chemistry, Analytical Sciences, Catalysis, Polymer Science, Electrochemistry, Radiopharmaceuticals, etc.
Life Sciences:
- Cancer Biology, Immunology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Biology, CRISPR, Plant & Agri-biotech, Bioinformatics, Bioremediation, Food Safety, Pest Control, etc.
Interdisciplinary research areas are also encouraged.

Eligibility
- Nationality: Indian citizens only
- Age: Less than 28 years as on 01.08.2025
- Age relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC-NCL – 3 years, PwBD – 10 years
Educational Qualifications:

Candidates awaiting final M.Sc. results may also apply but must meet the required eligibility at the time of joining.

Ineligible Subjects: Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial/Polymer/Textile/Environmental Chemistry, Fisheries, Forestry, Medicine, Home Science, B.Tech/M.Tech holders.
Mandatory National-Level Exam (Valid as on 01.08.2025)
Candidates must have a valid certificate/score in any ONE of:
- UGC-CSIR NET (JRF only)
- GATE (in Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biotechnology)
- JEST
- ICMR/ICAR/DBT-JRF
- JGEEBILS
Selection Process
For BARC HBNI PhD 2025 Program
- Screening based on academic record and national-level exam performance
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview at BARC Mumbai
- Final selection based on performance in the interview
- Interview travel reimbursement: 3rd AC fare (as per BARC rules)
