The Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous research institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, invites online applications for its regular Ph.D. programme starting August 2025. The degree is awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be university under DAE.

Eligibility
To apply for the PhD 2025 programme, candidates must:
- Have an M.Sc. in Physics with at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA
- Hold a valid CSIR-JRF / UGC-JRF fellowship OR have a valid GATE score with rank up to 500
- Final year M.Sc. students (2025) may also apply; admission will be provisional until final results are submitted
Selection Process
Selection for IOP Bhubaneswar PhD 2025 will be based on:
- A written test to be held on 29 May 2025
- Interviews scheduled for 30 & 31 May 2025 (and 2–3 June if required)
- Applicants may indicate preference for theoretical or experimental physics during application
Fellowship and Facilities
Selected candidates will receive:
- ₹38,000/month (JRF, 1st–2nd year)
- ₹42,000/month (SRF, from 3rd year)
- ₹60,000 annual contingency grant
- On-campus accommodation and medical facilities
