About the National Institute of Design (NID):
National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, along with its campuses in Gandhinagar and Bengaluru, is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. NID offers professional design education at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. levels and is authorized to award its own degrees.

Eligibility:
- Age Limit:
- General & EWS: Born on or after 1 July 1994
- OBC-NCL, SC, ST: Born on or after 1 July 1991
- PwD: Born on or after 1 July 1989
- Overseas: Born on or after 1 July 1994
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Final-year students (2025–26) may apply provisionally, subject to submission of final results by 31 July 2026.
NID MDes Admission 2026 Process:
Admission is based on performance in two stages of the Design Aptitude Test (DAT):
- Stage 1: DAT Prelims – Sunday, 21 December 2025 (pen-and-paper test)
- Stage 2: DAT Mains – Studio Test and Interview (schedule to be announced)
Final merit will be calculated on 40% Studio Test + 60% Interview.

- SC/ST: Rs. 1500 (Rs. 3000 for 2 disciplines)

- Overseas candidates: USD 125 (USD 250 for 2 disciplines)
