Admission Notice: Undergraduate Programmes 2026–27 IIM Bangalore BSc Economics Data Science BS
About the Programmes
IIM Bangalore introduces two in-person four-year undergraduate programmes from the Academic Year 2026–27:
- B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics with minors in Data Science and Business Studies
- B.Sc. (Hons) in Data Science with minors in Economics and Business Studies
These programmes represent IIMB’s pioneering approach to undergraduate education, combining rigorous analytical learning with real-world applications in business. They differ from conventional BBA programmes by offering a stronger quantitative and multidisciplinary foundation that integrates economics, data science, and business studies.
A total of 80 students (40 per major) will be admitted, ensuring a small cohort and personalized academic experience.

Eligibility
Age Requirement:
Applicants must be 20 years or younger as on 1 August 2026.
Academic Qualification:
- Must have successfully completed Class XII or equivalent from a recognized board.
- Mathematics is mandatory in Class XII.
- Minimum 60% marks in Mathematics in Class X are required.
Entrance Examination
Applicants must take the IIMB Undergraduate Admissions Test (UGAT) conducted by IIM Bangalore.
Test Pattern:
- Duration: 120 minutes (Computer-based)
- Total Questions: 60 multiple-choice questions
- Sections:
- English Comprehension – 15 questions
- Quantitative & Data Interpretation – 30 questions
- Logical Reasoning – 15 questions
- Negative Marking: 1/3 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
Examination Fee:
- General/EWS/NC-OBC: ₹3,000
- SC/ST/PwD: ₹1,500
Selection Process ( IIM Bangalore BSc Economics Data Science BS)
Selection is conducted in two stages:
- Entrance Test: Scores will be used for shortlisting candidates for interviews.
- Final Selection: Based on a composite score — 60% from the entrance test and 40% from the personal interview.
The personal interview will assess academic consistency, motivation, communication skills, intellectual curiosity, extracurricular record, and authenticity.
Candidates can apply for one or both programmes, ranking their preferences. Allocation is done based on composite score order, with candidates considered first for their top preference.
Academic Structure
The four-year programme combines core courses, major specialization, and minor subjects in Economics, Data Science, and Business Studies.
Students have the option to exit after three years with a degree.
Courses are taught by IIMB’s distinguished faculty, visiting academicians, and industry professionals. Continuous evaluation through quizzes, projects, and examinations ensures academic rigour.
Students will also participate in research projects, case study development, and capstone research during the final year.
Campus and Facilities
The UG programmes will be offered at the IIMB Jigani Campus, approximately 30 km from the Bannerghatta Campus. The fully residential campus will include:
- Modern classrooms, computer labs, and a library
- Sports and recreation facilities
- Dining halls and hostel accommodation
Construction of a world-class permanent campus is expected to begin before the end of 2025.
All students are required to stay on campus for the full duration of the programme.

The fee includes tuition, hostel, and examination charges. A modest revision may occur from the third year onwards.

Career Guidance and Opportunities
The IIM Bangalore BSc Economics Data Science BS program aims to prepare students for advanced studies and leadership careers in emerging sectors such as consulting, finance, data analytics, policy research, and technology/startups.
Career counselling, resume and interview workshops, and mentorship through IIMB’s alumni network will be provided, though placement is not the primary focus.
