Periyar University invites online applications for admission to its Ph.D. programmes (Full-Time and Part-Time) for the Academic Year 2025–2026 (July Session). Admissions are offered across University Departments, Affiliated Colleges, and Recognized Research Centres through a Common Entrance Test (CET) and Interview.
Program Highlights
- Programs Offered: Ph.D. (Full-Time / Part-Time) including Interdisciplinary Research
- Special Option: Part-time Ph.D. in Dravidian Literature and Journalism for working journalists with PG qualifications and experience
- Admission Basis: Common Entrance Test + Interview (CET carries 70 marks, Interview 30 marks)
- Merit List: Based on CET/NET score (50%) and PG marks (50%)
- Exemption from CET: Candidates with UGC/CSIR NET, JRF, DST-INSPIRE, ICMR, ICAR, DBT fellowships, or already possessing a Ph.D.
Eligibility
- Minimum Academic Requirement:
Postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwD) under the following patterns:- 10+2+3+2, 11+1+3+2, 10+3+2+2, 10+2+5 (Integrated), or 10+2+4+2
- For CA/CS/ICWA: Minimum two years’ experience after professional qualification
- Eligibility for Foreign Students: Must hold equivalent PG qualifications with certification
- Interdisciplinary Ph.D.: Allowed with co-supervisor; proposal must be submitted in prescribed format

Additional Instructions
- Applications without CET/NET will not be considered (unless exempted).
- No TA/DA is provided for attending CET or Interview.
- NET-qualified candidates and Ph.D. holders can directly apply for admission without CET but must attend the interview.
- Candidates with foreign degrees must obtain an equivalence certificate.
