Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), established in 2010, is a leading institution dedicated to higher education, research, and innovation in fisheries and ocean sciences. The university offers Postgraduate (PG), Doctoral (Ph.D.), and Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) programs across various disciplines. Admission to these programs follows ICAR/NTA scores, GATE, Common Entrance Examinations conducted by KUFOS, or national-level entrance exams, depending on the program.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Programs
Post-Doctoral Fellowships are available in Fisheries Science, Ocean Science and Technology, Fisheries Management, and Fisheries Engineering. Applications for PDF programs will be invited separately.
Eligibility
- M.F.Sc. – Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) with a minimum OGPA of 6.5/10.0 (5.5/10.0 for SC/ST).
- M.Sc. – Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent OGPA.
- M.Tech. – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in a relevant field with at least 60% marks.
- MBA – Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with KMAT/CAT/CMAT scores.
- Ph.D. – Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum OGPA of 6.5/10.0 (5.5/10.0 for SC/ST).
Selection Procedure
- For M.F.Sc. & Ph.D. in Fisheries Science – Based on ICAR-AIEEA (PG/Ph.D.) 2025 scores conducted by NTA.
- For M.Tech. in Food Technology – Based on GATE/NTA scores and interview.
- For MBA – Admission is based on KMAT/CAT/CMAT scores, Group Discussion, and Interview.
- For all other PG & Ph.D. programs – Based on KUFOS Common Entrance Examination followed by an interview.

Reservation Policy
- SC/ST candidates from Kerala – 5% relaxation in minimum marks.
- EWS (General Category from Kerala) – 10% reservation.
- Sports Quota (SPQ) – 3 seats across all PG programs.
- Children of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) – 1 seat in M.Sc. Physical Oceanography.
- Lakshadweep Quota (LDQ) – 3 seats for PG programs.
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD) – 5% reservation for M.Sc. programs.
- Children of Fishermen (CoF) (Kerala State) – 20% supernumerary seats.
- NRI/Foreign Nationals – 2 supernumerary seats in each program.
Application Procedure
- Applications must be submitted online at www.admission.kufos.ac.in.
- Application Fee:
- General – ₹2000
- SC/ST (Kerala only) – ₹1000
- NRI Candidates – ₹7500
Documents Required at the Time of Admission
- Printout of online application and fee receipt.
- Transfer Certificate & Conduct Certificate.
- Degree/Marksheet of qualifying examination.
- Community Certificate (if applicable).
- Nativity Certificate (for candidates from outside Kerala).
- Migration Certificate (if applicable).
Fee Structure
- PG & Ph.D. Tuition Fee – As per Annexure II.
- Foreign Students Fee – US$2000 per semester (excluding hostel fees).
- NRI Candidates – One-time payment of US$2000 + regular fees.
Scholarships & Fellowships
- KUFOS Junior Fellowship (KJF) – ₹2000 per semester for PG students.
- KUFOS Senior Fellowship (KSF) – ₹14,000 per month for Ph.D. students.
- E-Grants available for SC/ST/CoF students.
