Ph.D. PROGRAM (SPECIAL ROUND) FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-25
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur, an Institute of National Importance, established by an Act of Parliament, invites online applications for admission to the Ph.D. program for the Academic Year 2024-25 (Special Round).
Ph.D. Program Specializations
Admissions are open in the following departments:
- Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)
- Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
- Mechanical Engineering (ME)
- Design
- Natural Sciences – Physics (NSP)
- Natural Sciences – Mathematics (NSM)
Admission Categories
Ph.D. admissions will be offered under the following categories:
Institute Fellowship (Full-Time)
- Candidates must have qualified GATE/CEED/CSIR/UGC-NET or an equivalent examination.
- Financial support is provided as per MoE norms.
Externally Funded (Full-Time)
- Candidates with fellowships from external agencies such as CSIR/UGC/DST/INSPIRE can apply.
- Fellowship terms will be as per the funding agency’s rules.
Self-Sponsored (Full-Time)
- Candidates without an external fellowship can apply under this category.
- No financial assistance will be provided by the institute.
Part-Time Ph.D.
- Open to candidates employed in reputed organizations, R&D labs, or government agencies.
- A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer is mandatory.
Eligibility
- For Engineering Disciplines (CSE, ECE, ME):
- Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology with at least 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA).
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum 75% marks (or equivalent CGPA) and a valid GATE score may also apply.
- For Design:
- Master’s degree in Design/Engineering/Technology with at least 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA).
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Design/Engineering with 75% marks (or equivalent CGPA) and a valid CEED score may also apply.
- For Natural Sciences (Physics/Mathematics):
- Master’s degree in Physics/Mathematics or related disciplines with 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA).
- Candidates must have qualified UGC/CSIR-NET/GATE/JEST or an equivalent exam.
Relaxation: A 5% relaxation in minimum marks is provided for SC/ST/PwD candidates as per Government of India norms.
Selection Procedure
- Shortlisting: Based on academic records and eligibility criteria.
- Entrance Test & Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for an online/offline written test followed by an interview.
- Candidates with external fellowships (CSIR/UGC/DST/INSPIRE) may be exempted from the entrance test.
- Final selection will be based on performance in the written test and interview.
Reservation Policy
Reservations are applicable as per Government of India norms for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD candidates.

- Research Proposal (if required)
