IIT Dharwad invites online applications for admission to its full-time M.Tech. programmes for the academic year 2025-26. The M.Tech. programmes are offered in the following departments:
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
- Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering (EECE)
- Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering (MMAE)
Important Dates
- Launch of Online Applications: 26 March 2025
- Last Date for Submission of Online Application: 25 April 2025
- Offer Acceptance: As per COAP schedule (candidates must register at the COAP portal)

Eligibility
General Requirements:
- A valid GATE score in the relevant paper is mandatory unless exempted (see department-specific eligibility).
- A minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale in qualifying degree (55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD).
Department-wise Eligibility:
- CSE
- Eligible Degrees: B.E./B.Tech in CSE or allied branches, MCA, M.Sc. in CS.
- GATE in CS required unless from IIT/IISc with CGPA ≥ 8.0.
- Soft cutoff GATE Score: 600 (General), 540 (OBC-NCL), 400 (SC/ST/PwD)
- 33 seats (including 3 supernumerary for IIT/IISc candidates)
- EECE
- Eligible Degrees: B.E./B.Tech in EE, ECE, EIE, ICE, Telecommunication, EEE.
- GATE in EE, EC, or IN required unless from IIT/IISc with CGPA ≥ 8.0.
- Cutoff GATE Score: 350 (General), 315 (OBC-NCL), 233 (SC/ST/PwD)
- 45 seats in total (15 each in Microelectronics & VLSI, CSPML, PEPS, + supernumerary)
- MMAE
- Eligible Degrees: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or related branches.
- GATE in AE, ME, MT, PI, or XE (A–E) required unless from IIT/IISc with CGPA ≥ 8.0.
- Cutoff GATE Score: 350 (General), 315 (OBC-NCL), 233 (SC/ST/PwD)
- 51 seats in total across 3 specializations (Thermal and Fluids, Design, Manufacturing and Materials)
Application Process
- Candidates must register at the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP): https://coap.iitb.ac.in
- Application link for IIT Dharwad will be hosted on www.iitdh.ac.in
- Application Fee: ₹200 (Gen/OBC/EWS), ₹100 (SC/ST/PwD/Women), payable via SBI Collect
- Candidates may apply to multiple departments with a single fee payment.
- Applicants in the final year of qualifying degree may apply; their admission will be provisional, subject to degree completion.
Financial Assistance
For IIT Dharwad MTech 2025 Enrolled Students
- All admissions are under Teaching Assistantship (TA) category.
- Monthly stipend of ₹12,400 for a maximum of 24 months (subject to performance).
- Candidates must assist in teaching/administrative work for 8 hours/week.
- Employed candidates must resign and submit a relieving letter before joining.
Fees Structure
- Total payable at admission: ₹68,500 (Gen/EWS/OBC), ₹63,500 (SC/ST/PwD)
- Includes mess advance and refundable deposits
- SC/ST/PwD students are exempted from tuition fees
- Hostel accommodation is provided; motorized vehicles not allowed
Selection Process
- Based on GATE score and category-wise seat allocation via COAP.
- Tie-breakers: academic performance in qualifying degree, followed by date of birth.
- IIT/IISc graduates applying for supernumerary seats are selected based on CGPA alone.
