About the NID B.Des Admission 2026 –27 Program :

The National Institute of Design (NID), an Institute of National Importance under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, invites applications for admission to its full-time Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program (four-year duration) for the academic year 2026–27. The B.Des. program is offered across five NIDs located in Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam.


Admission Process:

Admissions will be based on performance in the two-stage Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

  • Stage 1: DAT Prelims – Sunday, 21 December 2025
  • Stage 2: DAT Mains – Details to be announced later

The DAT Prelims score will be used only for shortlisting candidates for the Mains and will not carry any weightage in the final result.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must have passed or will appear for the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) examination in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) from a recognized board in 2025–26.
  • Age limit:
    • General / GEN-EWS: Born on or after 1 July 2005
    • OBC-NCL / SC / ST: Born on or after 1 July 2002
    • PwD: Born on or after 1 July 2000
    • Overseas Category: Born on or after 1 July 2005

Test Centres (DAT Prelims):

Reservation of Seats:

GEN-EWS – 10%, OBC-NCL – 27%, SC – 15%, ST – 7.5%, PwD – 5%.
Overseas candidates have 15% supernumerary seats.


Result and Admission:

Final admission will be based solely on DAT Mains scores (Studio Sensitivity Test – 60%, In-person Sensitivity Test – 40%). Shortlisted candidates will be allotted seats as per merit, category, and campus preference.


Important Note for NID B.Des Admission 2026–27:

  • All courses at NID are taught in English.
  • Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements and produce original documents during counselling.
  • Admit cards, results, and all updates will be available only on https://admissions.nid.edu.
