About AIL

The Army Institute of Law (AIL), Mohali, established under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) and permanently affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, invites applications for admission to its BA LLB (5-Year) programme for the academic session 2025-26. AIL is recognized by the Bar Council of India and is a premier institute dedicated to excellence in legal education.

Total Intake

  • Total Seats: 100
    • Wards of Army, Navy, and Air Force Personnel: 75 (Army: 71, Navy: 1, Air Force: 3)
    • Punjab Resident Civil Category: 20 (admission through centralized counselling by GNDU, Amritsar)
    • All India General Category: 5

Eligibility

  • Academic Qualification: 10+2 examination with at least 45% marks from a recognized board.
  • Candidates appearing in 10+2 exams can apply provisionally.
  • Candidates who have obtained 10+2 through open universities directly without prior formal education are not eligible.
  • Age: As per Punjabi University, Patiala, and Bar Council of India norms.
  • Category Eligibility:
    • Army, Navy, Air Force Wards (as per AWES guidelines)
    • Punjab Resident Civil Category must possess Punjab Domicile Certificate.

Entrance Test

  • Mode: Online Computer Based Test (LET – Law Entrance Test)
  • Test Date: 24 May 2025 (9 AM to 11 AM)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Pattern: 200 objective questions (No negative marking)
    • Mental Ability (50 questions)
    • General Knowledge & Current Affairs (50 questions)
    • Law Aptitude (50 questions)
    • General English (50 questions)

Admission Process

  • Admission to 75 seats for Army/Navy/Air Force Wards and 5 seats of All India General Category will be through LET-2025 based on merit.
  • Admission to 20 seats under Punjab Civil Category will be based on 10+2 merit through centralized counselling by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.
  • Post-result, candidates shortlisted must send scanned copies of original documents for counselling.

  • Applications to be submitted online only at www.ail.ac.in
  • Application Fee:
    • Rs. 3300 (without late fee)
    • Rs. 4300 (with late fee of Rs. 1000)

Counselling

  • Counselling will be conducted online through Google Meet for all categories.
  • Admission will be confirmed only upon verification of eligibility documents.

    • Army Category: Rs. 1,83,736
    • Civil Category: Rs. 2,20,195
  • Hostel Fee:
    • Without AC: Rs. 1,16,882
    • With AC: Rs. 1,22,882
  • Grand Total (Army Category, with hostel): Rs. 3,00,618
  • Grand Total (Civil Category, with hostel): Rs. 3,52,492
    (Note: Hostel facility not available for LLM students.)

AIL offers several rolling trophies, awards, and scholarships for academic excellence, mooting, and overall achievements. Scholarships from Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), industry-sponsored scholarships, and alumni scholarships are also available.
