DU India Admissions for International Students 2025
The Foreign Students’ Registry (FSR) at the University of Delhi is the central office for processing applications from foreign nationals for various academic programs. International students can apply for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate, Ph.D., and research programs.
Who Can Apply?
Foreign nationals who hold a valid non-Indian passport are eligible. NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) with Indian passports are NOT eligible under the Foreign Student category.
Admission Categories
- Self-Financed Students – Students who finance their own education or hold scholarships from organizations other than the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
- ICCR Scholarship Students – Students awarded scholarships by ICCR, Government of India.
- Casual Affiliation Students – Students who wish to study for one or two semesters in a non-degree program.
Application Process
- Register on the Study in India portal: https://studyinindia.gov.in.
- Apply Online at the DU FSR Portal: http://fsr.du.ac.in.
- Submit Required Documents (see section below).
- Pay the Application Fee – The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online.
- Track Application Status on the DU admission portal.

Documents Required
- Passport (valid for at least six months)
- Birth Certificate
- Academic Transcripts (12th-grade certificates for UG, degree certificates for PG/Ph.D.)
- Research Proposal (for Ph.D. applicants)
- Medical Insurance (minimum coverage of ₹5 lakhs)
- English Proficiency Certificate (IELTS/TOEFL if applicable)
- Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for non-Indian qualifications
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the diplomatic mission (if applicable)
Selection Process
- No Entrance Test for most programs.
- GRE score mandatory for M.A. Economics.
- GMAT score (minimum 650) required for MBA & Ph.D. in Management.
- English Proficiency Test (IELTS/TOEFL) preferred for B.Tech & LL.B.
- For Ph.D. Admissions – Research proposal evaluation and online interaction.

Tibetan applicants are exempted from additional foreign student fees.
Accommodation Options
- Limited seats in college hostels with basic facilities.
- International Student House (ISH) for males and International Hostel for Women (ISHW) for Master’s & Ph.D. students.
- Private accommodation is also available in Delhi.
Visa Requirements
- Student Visa (S-1) for UG, PG, Diploma courses.
- Research Visa (S-5) for Ph.D. students.
- Admissions are not allowed on Tourist/Medical/Short-term Visas.

Specific Instructions for Students from Nepal and Bangladesh
Eligibility for School of Open Learning (SOL) Admissions
Nationals from Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan along with recognized refugees residing in Delhi are eligible to apply for Bachelor’s and Master’s courses through School of Open Learning (SOL).
Special Accommodation for Nepalese and Bhutanese Nationals
- Nationals from Nepal and Bhutan can apply under the Foreign Student category but must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria for the respective programs.
- They are not required to obtain a student visa, but their passport and valid identification documents from their respective governments are necessary.
Fee Structure for SAARC Countries (Including Nepal and Bangladesh)
- Students from SAARC countries, including Nepal and Bangladesh, are eligible for reduced tuition fees compared to non-SAARC foreign students.
- Example: MBA Full-Time fees for SAARC students are lower than those for students from non-SAARC countries.
Requirement of No Objection Certificate (NOC)
- Applicants from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Tibet need to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective diplomatic missions.
- The NOC must be uploaded at the time of application, but the original copy is required at the time of admission.
Visa Exemption for Nepalese and Bhutanese Nationals
- Unlike students from Bangladesh or other countries, students from Nepal and Bhutan do not need a student visa but must provide a valid passport or government-issued identification
