The PG Diploma in Malayalam Journalism at IIMC Kottayam is a one-year full-time program designed to provide comprehensive training in journalism, media ethics, digital media, and communication studies with a focus on the Malayalam language.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Students appearing for the final year/semester examination of their Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply. However, admission will be provisional and subject to submission of the final degree by 30 September 2025.
- Age Criteria:
- General Category: Born on or after 1 August 2000 (Maximum Age: 25 years)
- OBC Category: Born on or after 1 August 1997 (Maximum Age: 28 years)
- SC/ST/Differently Abled Candidates: Born on or after 1 August 1995 (Maximum Age: 30 years)
Selection Process:
The admission will be based on a written entrance examination, which will be conducted in Malayalam language.
Syllabus for the Entrance Examination
The exam will be descriptive and objective and will evaluate candidates based on the following topics:

- Proficiency in Malayalam Language
- Translation from English to Malayalam
- Culture and Heritage of India
- General Awareness of Indian Political, Economic, and Development Issues
- Indian History and Social Science
- Awareness of Current Public Issues
- General Awareness about Regional/National Media
- Information & Communication Technologies in Media Industry
- Mass Media and Society
- Basic Journalism Skills

- Duration: 3 hours
- Nature of Exam: Descriptive and objective
- Selection: Based on written exam only (No interview or group discussion)
