The Madras School of Economics (MSE), recognized as an Institution of Special Importance by the Government of Tamil Nadu and included by UGC under the State Legislature Act, invites applications for admission to its two-year full-time M.Sc. in Data Science program for the Academic Year 2025-26. The degree will be awarded by MSE under its own degree-granting authority as per the MSE Act, 2020.
Candidates with a strong foundation in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility
Specifically For Madras School of Economics MSc Data Science 2025 -26 Program
Academic Qualification
- Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences (including Commerce and Management), Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
- Final-year undergraduate students appearing for their exams in AY 2025 are also eligible.
Minimum Marks Requirement
- 55% at undergraduate level for General Category.
- 50% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer).
- 45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Additional Requirements
- Valid GATE score in any of the following papers:
- Computer Science & Information Technology (CS)
- Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DA)
- Mathematics (MA)
- Statistics (ST)
- Physics (PH)
- Candidates must have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level or completed Mathematical Economics courses at undergraduate level.
- Age should not exceed 25 years as on 1st July 2025.
Number of Seats
- Total Intake: 47 seats
- Includes 35% reservation for resident students of Tamil Nadu.
- Reservation policies of the Government of Tamil Nadu will be followed.
Selection Procedure
- 50% of seats will be filled based on valid GATE scores (no entrance test required).
- Remaining 50% of seats will be filled through an All-India Entrance Test conducted by MSE.
- In case of tie in entrance test scores, merit will be based on qualifying examination marks and age (preference to elder candidates).
