Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi – School of Chemical Sciences (SCS)
The School of Chemical Sciences (SCS), IIT Mandi invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. program under the Regular Full-Time mode for the August 2025 semester. The program is open to candidates interested in pursuing advanced research in all broad areas of chemistry and select areas of physics, such as optics, electronics, single-photon emission, and light-matter interaction.

Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualifications

Additional Requirements
- For BS-MS/M.Sc./B.Tech/B.E./B.S. candidates:
Must have qualified at least one of the following national-level exams:- CSIR-JRF / UGC-JRF
- NET-LS / NET-PhD
- Valid GATE qualification
- DST-INSPIRE
OR - Minimum two years of professional experience (post-qualification, completed before semester starts)
- Self-Sponsored Candidates:
Exempted from requirement (1) above.
Exemptions from National Level Exams / GATE
Candidates are exempted from GATE or equivalent if they meet the following:

Note: NIRF ranking must be from the overall category of the year in which admission is sought.

- Candidates must fill the application form online and upload the required documents.
- Only one application is allowed per application fee.

- The interviews will be conducted offline (in-person).
- Limited campus accommodation (1–2 nights) may be provided subject to availability.

Additional Notes
- Employed candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of interview.
- Candidates graduating in 2025 are also eligible to apply provided they submit at least a provisional mark sheet at the time of admission.
- Reservations as per Government of India rules will apply.
- IIT Mandi reserves the right to admit or not admit candidates and apply its own shortlisting criteria.
- Incomplete applications or failure to submit required documents will lead to cancellation of candidature.
