Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI), a part of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, invites applications for admission to its Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) course. The program is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India, and aligns with the latest STCW Convention guidelines by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have a B.E. / B.Tech degree (with minimum 50% marks) in one of the following:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical stream combinations (e.g., Mechanical & Automation, Mechanical & Electronics, etc. with Mechanical as core)
- Naval Architecture (as core, e.g., Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)
- Marine Engineering (from AICTE/UGC approved institutions but not DGS-approved)
Additionally:
- Must have secured minimum 50% marks in English in Class X/XII/Diploma/Degree.
- Relaxation of 5% in English marks for ST candidates from Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 28 years as on course commencement date.
- Nationality: Must be Indian.
- Must possess a valid Indian Passport at the time of admission.
Medical Fitness
- Candidates must be physically fit and provide a certificate from a DGS-approved medical practitioner (valid for at least 18 months).
- Vision: Normal eyesight, no color blindness
- Height: Minimum 157 cm with proportionate weight and chest
- Must pass psychological screening (MMPE test) as per DG Shipping norms

- ₹500/week fine applicable on late payment beyond 3 months
- No stipend will be paid during the course
Note: The fee includes tuition, study materials, boarding & lodging, uniforms, insurance, and student membership of the Institute of Marine Engineers.
Fee also includes STCW modular courses conducted by METI.
Sponsorship Requirement
- Candidates must obtain sponsorship from a Shipping Company or Manning Agency (with RPSL number) for 6-month onboard training post-GME.
- Sponsorship can be submitted at the time of admission or within 6 months of joining.

Note: Candidates also need to pay ₹1,416/- separately for INDoS number processing after selection.
