NIT Rourkela Executive PhD 2025–26 Admissions
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela invites online applications from working professionals and eligible Indian citizens for admission to its Executive Ph.D. Programme, commencing in the Autumn Semester (July 2025). This self-financed doctoral programme is designed to accommodate the needs of executives, industry professionals, and faculty from academia.
Programme Highlights

- No residential requirement, but physical presence is mandatory during contact programs

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold a relevant Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (as per department-specific eligibility) with:
- M.Tech./M.E./M.Pharm.: 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks
- B.Tech./B.E./B.Pharm./MCA: 7.0 CGPA or 65% marks
- M.A./M.Sc./M.Com./MBA: 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks
- MBBS/B.V.Sc.: 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks
- Have a minimum of 2 years of work experience after the qualifying degree (as on 10 June 2025)
- Be a currently employed full-time professional
Relaxation: A 0.5 CGPA (or 5% marks) relaxation is applicable for eligible Group-A officers, CFTI faculty, or professionals in private sectors with equivalent pay scale.
Programme Structure
NIT Rourkela Executive PhD 2025–26 (Regular PhD will vary)
- Year 1: Coursework (3 courses per semester, 9 credits each)
- Year 2 to 6: Research Practice (RP) and Seminar & Technical Writing (STW)
- Final Year: Thesis submission and viva
Students must attend contact sessions of 5 days per course per semester and 10 days each semester post-coursework.
