Research Units Available for Admission
Applications are invited from candidates with independent fellowships for pursuing Ph.D. in the following thematic research units:
- Energy and Environment Unit
- Quantum Materials and Devices Unit
- Chemical and Biology Unit
Detailed project themes and eligible faculty supervisors are listed in the annexure.
Eligibility
- Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.Pharm./M.Tech.) in Basic or Applied Sciences/Engineering or equivalent fields.
- Must have a valid independent fellowship (CSIR/UGC-JRF, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, or project-based as per INST norms).
- Students awaiting final semester/year results may also apply.
- Age limit: As per CSIR-UGC/DST guidelines.
- DST-INSPIRE applicants may apply (subject to activation of fellowship).

- Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email and on the INST website.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending interviews.
- Final selection will be made based on interview performance and subject to the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006.
Ph.D. Degree Awarding Institution
Selected candidates will be enrolled under the Ph.D. program of IISER Mohali and will receive their degree from IISER Mohali.
