The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a Deemed to be University under the Department of Space, Government of India. It is India’s premier institute dedicated to space science and technology education and research. Accredited with NAAC A+, IIST collaborates closely with ISRO and offers a pathway to advanced space research and technology careers.

Note: The M.Tech. in Machine Learning and Computing is a joint offering by the Departments of Physics, Mathematics, and Avionics.
Eligibility
- Nationality: Indian citizens only.
- Age Limit: Born on or after 1 October 1991 for General/EWS/OBC-NCL; 1 October 1986 for SC/ST/PD.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology or master’s degree in science with minimum 60% marks (6.5 CGPA) for General/EWS/OBC-NCL and 55% marks (6.0 CGPA) for SC/ST/PD.
- Mandatory Exams:
- GATE (2023/2024/2025) score for all M.Tech. programs.
- JEST 2023/2024 or CSIR-UGC NET (June/Dec 2023) for M.Sc. in Astronomy and Astrophysics.

For IIST PG 2025 Admissions

- Application Fee (Non-refundable):
- ₹600 for General/EWS/OBC-NCL male candidates
- ₹300 for female and all SC/ST/PD candidates
- Selection Procedure:
- Based on valid GATE/JEST/NET scores
- Some programs include online interviews
- Final merit list is prepared program-wise

Financial Assistance
- All GATE-qualified M.Tech. students are eligible for a monthly stipend of ₹12,400, as per MHRD norms.
- M.Sc. (Astronomy & Astrophysics) students may receive stipends through CSIR/UGC/INSPIRE if selected and eligible.
ISRO Absorption
- High-performing students with CGPA ≥ 7.5 may be considered for direct placement in ISRO (subject to availability and ISRO/DOS norms).
- Preference is given to relevant program and research alignment.
