Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University
Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), a Central University located in Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand, invites online applications for admission to its Ph.D. Programs for the Academic Session 2024-25. Admission will be based on an All-India Entrance Examination followed by an interview. Candidates qualified in national-level fellowships such as UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, GATE, CEED, ICAR, DST Inspire, etc., are exempted from the HNBGU Ph.D 2025 entrance exam but must apply online.

Eligibility
- Master’s degree after a 3-year or 4-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- 5% relaxation (to 50%) in marks for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS/PwBD candidates.
- Only candidates who have completed the qualifying examination by the Academic Session 2023-24 are eligible.
Admission Procedure
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted online through https://hnbguadmission.samarth.edu.in/2024.
Entrance Examination
- Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Pattern:
- Section I: Research Methodology (50 Marks)
- Section II: Subject-specific questions (50 Marks)
- Format: 100 multiple-choice questions (50 from each section)
- Duration: 2 hours
- Negative Marking: None
Exemption from Entrance Examination
- Candidates qualified in UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, GATE, CEED, ICAR, DST Inspire, or similar national-level tests are exempted from the entrance test but must appear for the interview.
Interview
- All shortlisted candidates (Entrance Exam qualified and exempted) will have to appear for an interview conducted by the respective departments.
- Evaluation during the interview will assess research aptitude, domain knowledge, and the feasibility of the proposed research.

- For Entrance Exam candidates:
- 70% Entrance Exam Score
- 30% Interview Score
- For Exempted candidates:
- 70% Academic/National Test Score
- 30% Interview Score
