The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai invites applications for admission to its Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Journalism (PGDMJ) for the Academic Year 2025-26. This unique one-year program is designed to professionally train journalists, communicators, and writers to cover public health and medical issues across media platforms.
About the Program
The PGDMJ program aims to:
- Instill public health concepts among journalists.
- Provide formal training in reporting on public health and medical sciences.
- Bridge the communication gap between health professionals and the general public.
- Equip participants with knowledge in health journalism, health laws, public health ethics, and medical writing.
The course structure includes contact classes, project development, and practicals, culminating in a project report publication.

- One Year (June 2025 – May 2026)
Eligibility Criteria
- Any Undergraduate Degree from a recognized university acquired as a full-time student (10+2+3/4/5 years pattern).
- No upper age limit.
- Tamil journalists are encouraged to apply.
- Service candidates can also apply.
Number of Seats
- 8 Seats only.
Admission Procedure
- Selection will be based on an Entrance Examination covering basic aspects of public health and journalism.
Scheme of Examination
- Three theory papers
- One project presentation and viva voce
- Continuous internal assessment during the course.
