Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Sonepat
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sonepat, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites applications for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program for the academic year 2025–26 (Odd Semester). The institute is currently offering UG and Ph.D. programs in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, and allied subjects. Soon, the institute will be shifting to its permanent 50-acre campus at village Kiloraad, Sonepat.
Ph.D. Programs and Research Areas
Ph.D. programs are offered in both Full-Time and Working Professional modes in the following disciplines:

Admission Categories
- Industry Candidates: External (EX-I), External Sponsored (EX-IS)
- Academic Institution Candidates: Self-financed Academics (SF-A), Sponsored Academics (S-A)
- Other Candidates: Self-financed Others (SF-O), Project Sponsored (P-S), Visvesvaraya Scheme (SF-O Visvesvaraya – for CSE/IT only)
Eligibility
IIIT Sonepat PhD 2025 Programs
For CSE/IT/ECE Disciplines:
- M.Tech/M.E/MCA+M.Tech or equivalent in relevant disciplines with minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwD) or CGPA 6.75 (6.0 for SC/ST/PwD).
- Desirable: Valid GATE/UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE/NET Score.
- Industry candidates must have 2–4 years of relevant industry experience depending on qualifications.
For Mathematics and Humanities (including English):
- M.Sc/MA or equivalent in relevant disciplines with minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwD) or CGPA 6.75 (6.0 for SC/ST/PwD).
- Desirable: Valid GATE/UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE/NET Score.
- Industry candidates must have 4 years of relevant industry experience.
Note: Visvesvaraya scheme is applicable only for CSE/IT disciplines.
Selection Process
- Written Test and/or Interview conducted by the respective departments.
- For Written Test, the latest GATE syllabus will be followed for CSE/IT/ECE/Mathematics.
- Shortlisting may also consider research area alignment, Statement of Purpose (SOP), and departmental research strength.
