National Institute of Technology Goa invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. programs (Full-Time and Part-Time) for the academic session 2025–26 (July cycle) in the following departments:
Departments Offering Ph.D. Programs
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Humanities and Sciences (including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, and related disciplines)
Categories of Admission
- Full-Time (Regular):
Includes Institute fellowship, project-based funding, or sponsorship by external agencies like DST, MeitY, UGC, etc. - Part-Time (External/Working Professionals):
Applicants must be employed in recognized industries, research labs, or academic institutions and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Eligibility
For Engineering Departments:
- M.Tech./M.E. in a relevant field with at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% marks.
- OR B.Tech./B.E. with 7.5 CGPA or 70% marks and a valid GATE score.
For Humanities and Sciences:
- M.Sc./M.A. in relevant subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, etc.) with minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks.
For Part-Time Candidates:
- Must be working professionals in relevant institutions or organizations located within commutable distance to NIT Goa.
- Must submit a valid NOC from the employer.
Selection Process
- Based on academic performance, eligibility, written test and/or interview.
- Final selection is at the discretion of the Institute and respective departments.
Fellowship
For NIT Goa PhD 2025 Students
- Full-time candidates may receive an Institute Fellowship as per GoI norms.
- No fellowship is available for part-time/sponsored/self-financed candidates.

- Application Fee:
- ₹500 for General/OBC/EWS candidates
- ₹250 for SC/ST/PwD candidates
- Payment Mode: SBI Collect (link available in brochure)
- Email a single PDF file containing the filled form, fee receipt, and all relevant documents to the concerned Department Coordinator (see brochure for email IDs).
