Presidency University, Kolkata invites online applications for admission to the Ph.D. Programme for the academic session 2025–2026 (Odd Cycle) across multiple departments, schools, and institutes. Applications are invited from eligible candidates who have qualified UGC or UGC-CSIR NET.

Reservation of seats for PwD candidates is included in the total number of seats as per West Bengal Government regulations.
Eligibility
- Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/PwD candidates as per UGC guidelines.
- Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination may also apply but must fulfill eligibility by 31st July 2025.
- Must have qualified UGC or UGC-CSIR NET with valid certificate.

Selection Process
For the Presidency University PhD 2025 Programs
- All applicants must submit a 500-word research proposal.
- Departments may shortlist candidates based on research proposal, availability of guides, and academic credentials.
- Shortlisted candidates will appear for interview/test conducted by Departmental Ph.D. Selection Committees as per UGC guidelines.
- Candidates will be evaluated on their research interests during the interview.
- The final selection list will be published on the official university website.
- Selected candidates will pay the prescribed non-refundable admission fee upon provisional selection.
Note:
- Exemption from Ph.D. coursework may be allowed subject to eligibility and departmental approval at the time of interview.
- Meeting minimum eligibility does not guarantee interview call or selection.
Reservations
- Reservation will follow West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions Reservation Act (2013, 2014) and other applicable government regulations.
- PwD reservation applies for candidates with at least 40% benchmark disability as per RPWD Act 2016.
